Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

The KtS Contest: Bats & Abs

UPDATE: This contest has ended. Congratulations to Andy! To everyone else: beware of Andy!

Kids, we've got a bona fide flash-contest on our hands! Partnershub and Warner Bros. have once again provided Kicking the Seat with an awesome prize to give away this holiday season! Yes, you could win either The Dark Knight Rises or Magic Mike on Blu-ray/Combo Pack!*

How do you enter the Bats & Abs Contest? Simply answer one of the following questions in the "Comments" section below:

1. If you were a superhero, what would you call yourself?

2. If you were an exotic dancer, what would your stage name be?

Make your entry as compelling and/or hilarious as possible, 'cause the creator of my favorite will add one of these gritty, leather-fetish blockbusters to their home video library! Note: the prizes will be randomly selected, grab-bag style--meaning the winner has a fifty/fifty shot of receiving Magic Mike or The Dark Knight Rises.

Entries must be in by 11:59pm on Monday, December 17th.

(Told ya it was a flash-contest!)

I'll announce a winner shortly thereafter.

In the meantime, if you're looking for some last-minute gift ideas, check out the Warner Bros. Happy Holidays Blog App, featuring blu-rays of new and classic movies, as well as games and a holiday survival guide!

Thanks again, and good luck!

Magic Mike and The Dark Knight Rises are now available on DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack. Prizes provided by Warner Brothers. Winning entrant must supply a valid mailing address in order to receive their prize, which will be delivered via FedEX or UPS. No P.O. boxes, please. If the winner fails to respond within 24 hours of being contacted by Kicking the Seat, an alternate winner will be chosen.

*Combo Pack includes a Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download of the film.
