Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Ep121: The Ties that Bond

On today's KtS Podcast, Ian and Bill emerge from the shadows to talk about the latest James Bond adventure, Spectre! How does this entry stack up against the others? Is it really fair to blame Sam Mendes for essentially turning in a Xerox of Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation? And how far is too far, when it comes to updating Bond for modern audiences? Find out as the guys piece together their reactions.

Also, Ian drops a few words about new home video releases, a killer soundtrack, and some big-screen indies that may just blow your mind. Episode 121 doesn't expect you to talk, but it does expect you to listen!

As always, we invite you to comment, follow, like, subscribe to, and share Kicking the Seat on TwitterFacebookiTunes, and Stitcher!
