This has truly been the Year of the Off-brand Marvel Movie. In its rocky "association" with Disney/Marvel, Sony has released FOUR films based on Spider-Man villains--with nary a web-slinger in sight! From Madame Web to Venom: The Last Dance to Kraven, the attempt to make this ill-fated "Sinister Six" universe come together has been met with ever diminishing returns.
But have Sony finally cracked the formula with this bloody actioner about a super-powered hunter of hunters? Have they finally found their Robert Downey, Jr. in the wisecracking buff brooder Aaron Taylor-Johnson?
Of course not!
